Kansas Sports Betting History
Gov. Laura Kelly signed sports betting into Kansas law on May 12 after SB 84 passed through the House and the Senate in the final hours of the legislative session. While the market has not launched yet, lawmakers are working to try and get it up and running in time for the NFL season, which kicks off on Sept. 8.
The Kansas Racing and Gaming Commission as well as the Kansas Lottery are the governing bodies of sports betting in the state, and still have rules and licensing structures to straighten out before sports betting can launch in the state. The bill calls for Kansas’ four state-owned casinos, Kansas Star Casino, Boothill Casino & Resort, Hollywood Casino at Kansas Speedway, and Kansas Crossing Casino & Hotel, to be awarded three online skins each. FanDuel has not officially announced a casino partnership in the state yet but has a longstanding partnership with Boyd Gaming which operates at Hollywood Casino.
