Baltimore Orioles Partner With Superbook For Retail Lounge

The Baltimore Orioles have announced a partnership with Las Vegas-based sportsbook SuperBook, to bring the first ever retail sports lounge to Oriole Park at Camden Yards.

Details of The Agreement

Subject to licensing and approval from the Maryland Lottery & Gaming Control Commission, Orioles fans should see the SuperBook lounge at Camden Yards upon completion in 2023. The lounge is aiming to give fans a space to enjoy the game and place live sports bets while socializing, eating, and drinking. In addition to the lounge itself, the ballpark will feature SuperBook branding on the center field scoreboard and behind home plate as well as on-site activations during games. The sportsbook will also be featured across Orioles’ social media platforms and the MLB Ballpark app.

“The Orioles are thrilled to partner with SuperBook to enhance our gameday experience with the introduction of their first-ever on-premise sports lounge,” said T.J. Brightman, Orioles Senior Vice President, Chief Revenue Officer. “While our organization is striving to build the next World Series contender in Charm City, we are constantly exploring unique opportunities to engage with Birdland’s diverse fanbase and welcome new visitors to downtown Baltimore. The addition of a SuperBook sportsbook only reinforces our iconic ballpark’s standing as one of the premier entertainment destinations in the region.”

Oriole Park and its baseball team has had some historic highlights over the years. Since its inception in 1992, it has attracted more than 72 million people to Baltimore while generating over $10 billion in economic impact funding to Baltimore and Maryland. As far as baseball goes, the Orioles boasted the most wins in the American League from 2012-2016 and has the number one minor league system in all of baseball.

“SuperBook Sports is excited about this partnership with the Baltimore Orioles,” said Kristin Mackey, SuperBook Sports Vice President of Marketing. “The heritage and tradition of the Orioles brand fits perfectly with the SuperBook brand. To be a part of ‘The Ballpark That Forever Changed Baseball’ is an honor, and we look forward to bringing a one of a kind sports lounge experience to fans. The future of the Orioles is bright, and we look forward to continuing to grow together for years to come.”

Joining Other Maryland Sports Teams

NFL’s Baltimore Ravens and Washington Commanders are also based out of Maryland and have sought out sports betting partnerships since Maryland legalized sports betting in 2020.

The Ravens have sportsbook partnerships with three of the big four operators: BetMGM, DraftKings, and Caesars. However, there is no retail sportsbook at M&T Stadium, and online sports betting is not yet legal in Maryland.

In the last few weeks, the Washington Commanders also joined this wave and received licensing from Maryland’s Sports Wagering Application Review Commission for a sportsbook at FedEx Field. While rumors have circulated that Fanatics could be their potential sportsbook partner, the Commanders have yet to confirm anything.

Maryland Sports Betting History

Sports betting in Maryland was passed by voters in November 2020 and was signed into law in April 2021. While online sports betting has not launched in the state, December of 2021 was the state’s launch of retail sports betting in the state. The state’s Sports Wagering Application Review Commission has told eager Maryland sports bettors that the 2023 Super Bowl is the goal for the online launch.

The law calls for 10 Class A licenses. These are reserved for Maryland’s six casinos, the Washington Commanders, the Baltimore Ravens, the Baltimore Orioles and the Maryland Jockey Club. It also calls for 30 additional Class B licenses available for other types of retail businesses, seven for the Maryland State Fairgrounds, four at off-track betting parlors, and two at commercial bingo halls with 200 or more machines.

In most recent news, the Maryland Lottery and Gaming Control Agency granted DraftKings approval to launch the sportsbook at Timonium Racetrack.
