BetMGM New York Expected to Launch on Monday January 17
On Friday morning, BetMGM announced that it would be joining the party in New York sometime on Monday. The popular sportsbook was a part of the nine approved operators in the state. Still, it was not a part of the initial group of sportsbooks to go live last Saturday, leaving it behind its biggest competitors in DraftKings and FanDuel. Still, BetMGM has some of the best market shares in the country and is expected to become a major power in the New York sports betting market.
BetMGM CEO Adam Greenblatt spoke to his excitement, saying, “with today’s monumental news, we’ll now be able to fully activate our relationships with MGM Resorts’ Empire City Casino and Madison Square Garden. We look forward to offering customers in New York unique experiences that they can’t access on any other platforms.”
BetMGM Bid
On November 8, 2021, , the New York State Gaming Commission officially recommended nine sports betting operators spread across two different bids. BetMGM was part of a “super bid” coming in from FanDuel, DraftKings, and Bally Bet. FanDuel and DraftKings are already live in the state as of January 8, while Bally Bet is expected to launch in time for the Super Bowl on February 13, 2022.
The other bid that was accepted was led by Kambi and included PointsBet, Rush Street Interactive, Resorts World, Caesars, and WynnBET. Caesars and Rush Street Interactive’s BetRivers are the two operators from that group which are currently live in New York.
BetMGM Partnerships
One of the most recognizable brands in the sports betting space, BetMGM partnered with MSG to afford it unique marketing opportunities in connection with the New York Knicks and New York Rangers. The MSG partnership will include brand exposure inside the arena and across social media channels, exclusive events, and promotions through MSG Network broadcasts.
Additionally, BetMGM partnered with the NBA, Turner Sports, Yahoo Sports, and Bleacher Report to launch NBABet, providing daily odds and insights across NBA content channels. BetMGM’s involvement with NBABet should be exciting for New York’s rampant basketball market.
